R/Gender_Critical was not a backup to r/GC getting banned. It was created because the top mod of r/GC was abusing her power in the early days of the sub.

I never liked that subreddit and not because it was against trans people but more because of how they would sit there claiming all men are rapists and abusers and I've even seen them referring to male children as future rapists which I felt is messed up.
Still didn't deserve a ban but maybe a rule against calling literal babies rapists would've helped it out.

Women stating that men commit the overwhelming majority of violent crime against women is not attacking anyone. It is simply a fact. Women saying they fear men because of this is not an attack, it is how they oersi ally feel. Women saying that men in general are more likely to rape or abuse women is not an attack. Women saying they would prefer a society or spaces without men isn't an attack.
Equal rights is a noble belief. But radical feminism isn't about fighting for equal rights for men and women. It's about liberating women from oppression based on their sex. It is about fighting for women. Men are not owed the labor of women fighting for them. This includes trans women as they are biologically male. Women do not have any obligation to support trans women in any way. They are a separate category and do not have any right to be included in feminist discussions, nor is questioning or discussing trans ideology hateful in any way.
Saying that males are not females is not an attack on anyone.

Saying you wish you could live apart from men is not an attack.
I have never seen a post from GC stating that killing all men or aborting male babies is acceptable. I have seen that kind of shit on fds and pink pill feminism, and while I'm glad those are fine, I don't see how that is any different from any other male incel sub.
What I have seen are discussions saying that men need to fight for themselves if they want rights, that men only give a shit about men's rights in the context of women fighting for their own, and that men are violent.
If you're not a violent man, then that discussion does not concern you. If it does concern you and you would like to change the fact that the vast majority of violence is committed by men (against both men and women),then you need to work with other men to change that, rather than suggesting it's a problem for women to fix or not acknowledge.

By including gender and gender identity separately, maybe they're expressing the idea that sex == gender =/= gender identity? Maybe gender there is supposed to protect people based on what GC would recognize as sex. If they mean gender expression when they say gender, well, I'm not sure.

No, because their new rules explicitly say its fine to express hate towards a majority. So sex isn't on the list, because the vast majority of humanity are cis male and cis female, and those in roughly equal proportion. When they say gender as a category of discrimination, they can therefore ONLY be talking about the other 47 "genders" that can claim minority status. Sex doesn't appear on the list deliberately, because the division of male and female sexed people is close enough to 50/50 that nobody can claim minority status (regardless of any discrimination or oppression that happens).

Unless they believe in biological essentialism (which the vast majority of 'woke' people don't), all you have to do is ask: how can you be born in the wrong body if gender is a social construct? i just made an account on there but i am having trouble figuring out what it is. is it like a twitter/facebook type website or more of a reddit type website? how can i find GC on there?

Just an FYI, the mods of r/GC banned me a few days ago for criticizing the frequent anti-feminist behavior in the sub on the grounds that I was "trashing it."
A mod once deleted a comment of mine on accusation that I was transgender, when the only point of my comment was pointing out to the OP what about their behavior in another sub most likely got them banned and how they could be more effective in their communication (i.e., don't go on a self-admitted rant about trans people in a thread having nothing to do with trans people).
Bear in mind that I was a part of the group that discussed the creation of r/GC. I was there since before day one.
Needless to say, I have no faith in the r/GC modship at this point, and I have long since felt that r/GC was heading in an unproductive direction. I don't think the content warranted banning, but the sub also demonstrated no awareness for the climate surrounding transgender people and the need to tread lightly and speak with nuance.
I think the toxicity of r/GC may have effectively killed the viability of any feminist movement by that name.

r/GC censored any criticism of the strategy of begging rightwingers for power. Criticism of "radical feminists" like WoLF, who promote the idea that the failures of the left meant that we should throw our lot in with powerful dominionist christian organizations (Heritage Foundation, the Federalist Society, Family Research Council, etc), were not allowed. Discussion was systematically and consistently quashed. Apparently instead of building an autonomous women's movement like women did during the second wave when the left failed us, we should instead get on our knees and suck dick for rightwingers, and be greatful for it. It is shameful the way that forum censored women from discussing the ways that radical feminism was/is being exploited by rightwing actors.

This makes me so angry. Transwomen are transwomen. I’ve not gotten to the point where I’ll actively ignore pronouns, or misgender someone intentionally, but the further the TRAs go, the more it pushes me to start disregarding the trans movement as anything other than men against women. Itsafetish is starting to look real good right now.

The NY Times wrote a story about many of Reddit's "hate" sub deletions today, but not GC. I posted a bunch of online comments. I've never been moderated there before. Every single comment that had the word misogyny in it was moderated/deleted. Every comment criticizing general Reddit operations posted.
It’s astounding how methodical and systemic this is becoming. Mentioning that misogyny exists and is harmful is somehow seen as infinitely worse than actually being misogynistic.
As a woman, we may say “yes sir!” Or be silent according to these creeps.
Frightening, isn't it? I was never a conspiracy theorist, but it's so hard to believe there's not one. I didn't even mention GC in most of those comments!

Yes lately there were some problematic issues there but like someone said there are a lot women hating groups still going around. It's clear who is okay to hate.

Social sites like Reddit rely on active user communities to drive engagement. Stop commenting, and conversation and engagement dries up. I just deleted everything I have ever posted on my main account. Reddit clearly does not want this conversation on their site, fair enough, but you don't get to keep my contributions.
