Not sure how great the title of this post is but basically,

I really enjoy fantasy novels and since I'm a lesbian, I often look for fantasy novels with f/f romance. The last two novels of this genre that I read were incredible. I generally don't care much about authors, just like I don't really care about who makes the music I like or about actors. I've never really understood idolization culture, like fawning over actors, writers, etc.

But still, I like to find out a little bit about an author after I've read their book and enjoyed it. So, the last two f/f fantasy novels I read were written by women who seem to be bisexual. That's fine, makes sense. However, they are also both super woke. One of them really went hard core anti-JK Rowling on twitter (Bless JK for being at least one author I like who isn't woke).

I want to clarify, even before this whole cancel culture thing, I never understood people expecting the people who write books they like or who make movies and music they like, to agree with them and be good people. So, it's not exactly upsetting to me that a lot of authors, singers, etc. that I like are woke, since I don't expect agreement or goodness or whatever and generally care more about the product than the person behind it.

So, I'm not crying over my fave authors being woke, but rather I am confused.

I am confused how talented, intelligent bisexual women who wrote such incredible books (books without trans characters or other woke identities might I add, just plain old gay, not even bi, these books just had lesbian characters) can be such stupid, ignorant hive-mind sheep? I really don't get it. We're living in a topsy turvy world for sure. Actually, it is pretty upsetting to see a woman who wrote such a wonderful book, a book that I as a lesbian loved and wished I read as a teen, attacking JK Rowling on twitter.

Also, just as college campuses have been overtaken by wokeness, it seems like the publishing industry, especially the fantasy/ YA/LGBT sections have been too and it's quite alarming and scary for would-be authors in these genres.

Anyway, does anyone else enjoy books or media that are tainted by wokeness or created by woke people? How do you deal with that? Do you often find yourself surprised by who is woke?
