Matching donations to Feminist Current !

As most of you already know, Feminist Current (FC) is an independent media source that is invaluable to many of the causes this sub is all about. They rely on our donations to not only survive, but to remain truly independent.
And so, in an effort to harness the energy of this sub into a productive form of support to FC, I'll be matching all donations you make to them up to 500 euros. Not only that, but I'll be matching donations 70 cents to a dollar for women donors. Here is how to participate :
1. Go to FC's donations page and choose the one time donation button. Then make your donation.
2. Comment on the thread with the amount donated. Don't forget to specify the currency, and make sure it's a top level comment !
3. By default, and unless you specify otherwise in your post, I'll assume you're a woman and match your donation 70 cents to a dollar.
4. Make your donation within three days of this post.
And that's it ! After three days I'll tally up the total and make a matching donation. Depending on my finances I'll try to do this again every few months for a cause we can all get behind. In the mean time, if any other moderately (or not so moderately) high earners on the sub would like to do something similar, feel free to DM me so we can pool our resources and try to organize matching donation drives like this more regularly.

I share your paypal concerns, so what I usually do is enter and remove my CC info before and after every payment, making any potential hack risk free for me.

When you’re matching female donors, do you mean it would be the reciprocal of 70%? So 1.43 cents to a dollar.
So:
Woman donates $70. You donate $100.
Man donates $100. You donate $100.
Yep, that's what I meant by that. I expressed it as 70 to 100 instead of 100 to 143 because that's the way the pay gap is usually expressed. I figured everyone would catch the reference that that's what that's about, but now that I'm saying it I wonder if it really is that obvious or if I should have been more explicit about why I picked that number XD
I thought that’s what you meant! For me it’d make more sense if you said “reciprocal of 70 cents to a dollar”. Or just make an example. But now that you’ve confirmed my example it’s pretty clear as is.
Oh yeah I guess what I said isn't necessarily clear. In my mind I meant I'll match every 70 cents with a dollar, but yeah you could interpret that either way. I suppose I could edit my post but I think most people will get which way I meant it. It would be really weird for someone to come into a feminist sub and be like "hey ladies I'm gonna make your contributions count for less than men !" lol

This is awesome. I make monthly donations of $5 which rounds to $6 AUD. It's not much but it adds up and feel such a need to support FC.

I did $100 US to coalition against the trafficking of women. I know you asked for feminist current, up to you how you treat this one. I have done feminist current at times.
As it stands it looks like the total contributions to FC are likely to exceed my matching cap, and I feel it would be unfair to those who gave to FC with a matching donation in mind to divert some of that money to another cause. However, this is something I plan yo do every few months, and your cause certainly seems like a good candidate for the next matching donation drive I organize.
You can still match it to FC. Up to you.
