Please someone show how many trans people have been killed last year vs how many women have been killed last year in the UK

LadySparklzwell, okey dokey wokey blokey · June 27, 2020, 12:50 p.m. · 1 reply

In my country, Canada, a woman is murdered every 2 days. In Russia, it's every 45 minutes.

aislov · June 27, 2020, 12:52 p.m. · 2 replies

And this TiM has the audacity to say women are privileged over them.. fuck them

bruhrowaway · June 27, 2020, 4:49 p.m.

Men are oppressed, more than women don't you know!! That of course includes the valid and brave trans women as we know it.

ZeRo_SafiyeNatal Female · June 27, 2020, 6:42 p.m.

They have the audacity because they’re men.

From what I’ve read, the sum total of transgender people murdered in the UK within the last year is one.

aislov · June 28, 2020, 3:14 a.m.

Fucking one

datatroves · June 28, 2020, 8:23 a.m.

It's something like one every other year.

Over the ten years from 2007 to 2017 it was seven.

In the same time period twelve TIMs killed someone.

Mostly random/partner crimes since 2000, plus a couple where they hid their sex during prostitution, and the client got very angry and killed them when they figured out.

Not sure that's hate crime. That kind of deception is a sexual assault in the UK.

Carthimundia · June 28, 2020, 10:51 a.m.

According to “counting dead women” 115 women were killed by male partners or ex partners. According to the office of national statistics there were 241 female victims in total. According to trans day of remembrance one trans period was killed in the U.K. in 2019. I couldn’t find any information about it.

This person has a weekly column which is usually just annoying, verging on ridiculous. This week's narcissism is absolutely outrageous. He references a Black NFL player who doesn't want to be called an African-American because he prefers to be seen as just American. The TIM then asks why he has to be referred to as a transwoman, instead of being a real woman. BECAUSE YOU ARE A MAN. STOP COMPARING YOUR DELUSIONAL FETISH TO TREATING BLACK PEOPLE AS HUMANS. TiM then goes on to talk about how, as a transwoman, he faces the threat of harassment, abuse and violence (not like real women lol! They're never in danger!) and how much it hurts his poor feelings when the actual women in his life say things that upset him and inlvalidate him (probably just mentioning female issues) and that 'while women are underprivileged when compared to men, they have a huge privilege compared to transwomen.'

I genuinely don't know how much longer I can put up with this. I will be writing a letter of complaint to the editors and hope some of you will consider doing the same. This can't go on.

ciaokhan · June 27, 2020, 12:50 p.m. · 1 reply

It's kind of ironic that they compare race, which is determined by genes. A very biological and non interchangeable thing.

To transgenderism which is mental.

Race is something you are born with,

Sex is something you are born with,

Sexual orientation is something you're born with,

Gender identity has no foundation with dysphoria anymore. So it can mean fuckall anything - and be changed and reiterated at any given time.

They are not the same. Even comparing the two seems offensive.

Same when transwomen try to relate to real women experiences.

breakoutredoubt · June 27, 2020, 4:17 p.m. · 1 reply

Orientation is something you're born with? I find that surprising, can you provide further information?

77SickOfItAll · June 27, 2020, 5 p.m.

I think it’s something that’s cemented pretty early on, maybe not from birth. Most parents I know who said they knew their child was homosexual was at around 7 years

MarkTwainiac · June 27, 2020, 5:01 p.m.

If you subscribe to the Telegraph, and you have the time and inclination, it would be a great favor to many of us here to archive his entire series and post it here. I and many others have never been able to read any of this jerk's columns on "becoming a woman" cuz they're all behind a paywall.

But I really want to read it because I remember full well when he published a MRA bible/screed in the 1990s.

Male people, the most oppressed of women.

Lcgirleh · June 27, 2020, 2:15 p.m. · 2 replies

How about the only thing that compares to being Black in America is ...uh actually being being Black in America. So if your not a Black person in America then just stfu. I hate people who do this. It is much stronger to find a way to share your experience that doesnt involve piggybacking on someone else's.

radcassandraXXPorn is hate speech · June 27, 2020, 7:01 p.m.

It's clear evidence their (anyone guilty of doing this, not just TIMs) argument (and therefore oppression) doesn't stand independently.

critical_of_WR · June 27, 2020, 3:32 p.m.

Privilege to be seen as what we are, which is women? Besides, what happens if you are black and female, where do we stand in terms of our privilege? What is my privilege in this scenario? Can any TIM explain this to me?

Sorry, here it is:

One of the discoveries one makes when transitioning is not how much changes, but how little. For example, no amount of oestrogen can dim my passion for American football. So most lunchtimes, I log on to the NFL Network, the TV channel of the National Football League, and catch up on the latest news, gossip and opinions.
The past few weeks, in the wake of the death of George Floyd, have been particularly instructive, as a sports channel has suddenly become very political. The NFL depends on black players, and I say ‘black’ rather than ‘players of colour’ because that is how the players themselves have been identifying.

They’re making their race unmistakable. And since all major league sportsmen and women in the USA have a university education, they’re doing so with an intelligence that matches their passion and rage.

Now, you may be wondering where I’m going with this, and thinking, ‘Oh Lord, she’s not going to claim that being trans means she can understand what it means to be black, is she?’

No, I wouldn’t dream of being so offensively presumptuous. But listening to people talk about being black in a white society has made me think in new ways about being trans in a gendered society.

So, for example, a former player said that he didn’t want to be referred to as African-American, because ‘White people aren’t called European-Americans. They are just American, so why can’t black people just be Americans too?’

That made me wonder why I call myself a trans woman, rather than just a woman, plain and simple. To some extent it’s an assertion of my specific identity, a refusal to be ashamed of who and what I am.

But as much as I want to be myself, I also want to be accepted by society as a normal human being. I suspect that the further my transition progresses, the more I’ll just want to be called a woman, full stop.

Some people – including some very famous people – have a hard time accepting that idea. They see it as a threat. That’s deeply upsetting, but it’s a real issue for people like me, and I’m just going to have to deal with it.

Likewise, player after player pointed out that their white team-mates never had to consider their race as an issue in their everyday lives. But a black football star, no matter how rich or famous, is still black. And he, his partner and his children all have to deal with the consequences of that.

Well, I’ve experienced the difference between walking down the street as an apparently normal man, and doing so as a trans woman. As a man, I did so unthinkingly, without fear. But as a trans woman, even one with nice clothes, a great surgeon and fancy hair, I never, ever entirely lose the awareness and anxiety that comes with confronting a world that I know can be very hostile indeed.

Transwomen face sky-high rates of harassment, abuse and violence. It hasn’t happened to me yet. But it only has to happen once, the possibility is always there, and part of my mind is permanently engaged in the job of trying to avoid it by appearing normal, feminine and unthreatening.

Finally, I think of a player from the New Orleans Saints called Malcolm Jenkins, who also leads a political group called Players Coalition, which lobbies for reform to the education and criminal justice systems.

Malcolm Jenkins of the Philadelphia Eagles

Malcolm Jenkins of the Philadelphia Eagles CREDIT: Getty Images

One of Jenkins’ white teammates, whom he had always held in high regard, made some uncharacteristically crass comments about black players’ disrespecting the American flag. Wiping away the tears, Jenkins said, ‘If you don’t understand how hurtful, how insensitive your comments are, you are part of the problem… You’re somebody who doesn’t understand their privilege.’

Well, I know that feeling. I am hugely fond of and dependent on my sisters and female friends. But those very people sometimes say things that they don’t intend to be hurtful, but that cut deep just the same.

I think the problem arises from the fact that while women are underprivileged when compared with men, they have a huge privilege compared to transwomen. I’m not sure that they understand, or acknowledge, that privilege, though the hurtful comments often presume it.

But it’s real. It’s a problem. And that’s another whole conversation.”

Salty-Tomorrow · June 27, 2020, 4:37 p.m.

He has a great surgeon and great clothes (privilege) and has never experienced any harassment himself (privilege) and thinks what he’s saying is NOT offensively presumptuous???

becrowl · June 27, 2020, 4:44 p.m.

Thanks. I wish some high-profile public figures would start shining a light on the false narrative that TiMs are more likely than women to be victimised. That's the core of our complaint, really: WE are at risk, not YOU. And the rare time you are, it's because of MEN. It's male on male violence, leave us out of it.

NulliAutemDicas · June 27, 2020, 6:01 p.m.

Ugghhh. "I know trans women experience harassment, even though I haven't, and that makes me worse off than a woman"...

NAME ONE WOMAN WHO HAS NEVER BEEN HARRASSED. JUST ONE. EVER. I'LL WAIT.

I don't get why the Torygraph is publishing this tripe, it doesn't seem to fit in with their normal demographic. I guess it's a cheap way of pretending their readership is not all retired colonels...

... oh wait. I forgot how much the right wing really does hate women, even more so in this case than they like traditional values. And yet it's GCs that get called traitors when we get our viewpoints published in non-lefty media?

MarkTwainiac · June 27, 2020, 5:11 p.m.

My hunch is they're trying to do two things at once: 1) let this narcissistic, sexist asshole hoist himself on his own petard, exposing what a sham the whole trans thing is in the process; and 2) acknowledge the fact that that since their readership IS, as you say, largely retired colonels, it must include a lot of other AGPs.

I searched how many trans people have been killed in the UK from 2008 to 2017. NINE trans people have been killed in the UK from 2008 to 2017. NINE.

In the whole world, between October 2017 and September 2018, 369 trans people have been killed; 167 cases of the total are from Brazil.

aislov · June 27, 2020, 5:38 p.m.

Like, don't get me wrong. I do not wish death on anyone, but trying to compare the deaths of black people with the deaths of trans people, it's just like comparing bananas with apples. And for this man to say that trans people in the UK are the equivalent of black people in the USA, it's insulting

ZeRo_SafiyeNatal Female · June 27, 2020, 6:41 p.m.

Only a white person would compare themselves to being as oppressed as a black person 🤦🏽‍♀️

infinity_insanityMy Flair · June 27, 2020, 8:35 p.m.

What's this privilege that we supposedly have? I read the thing and it's not explained what would that be. So I guess we should just bow our heads and not question the oppresion hierarchy.

IwantyoualltoBEDAVE · June 28, 2020, 2:52 a.m.

I’ve realised TIM’s never will be able to be just ‘women’ because then they won’t get the male privilege part of being trans. They’ve already screwed themselves.

_PsychoPop_ · June 28, 2020, 6:17 a.m.

Just FYI, this bloke is an MRA - he wrote “not guilty: the case in defence of men” in 1992. He thinks women have huge privilege over trans women. So this isn’t surprising - he’s constantly trying to find new ways to be the underdog and use it to his advantage. It’s not just ideological overlap - MRAs and TRAs are sometimes the same people...!
