Rereading SCUM Manifesto today

FEMINIST THEORY/ARTICLE Submitted June 28, 2020, 9:27 a.m. by Fuckingsealions

I haven't read it in a few years and this really tickled me today (bolding by me):

The male claim that females find fulfillment through

motherhood and sexuality reflects what males think they'd find fulfilling if they were female.

Women, in other words, don't have penis envy; men have pussy envy. When the male accepts his passivity, defines himself as a woman (males as well as females thing men are women and women are men), and becomes a transvestite he loses his desire to screw (or to do anything else, for that matter; he fulfills himself as a drag queen) and gets his dick chopped off. He then achieves a continuous diffuse sexual feeling from `being a woman'. Screwing is, for a man, a defense against his desire to be female.

Love it.

I especially love the first quote because it's what makes me have a problem with people like Jordan Peterson. While he has great points about life in general, he continues to perpetuate this idea of "having a family is what is best for women, not having kids is a mistake" while completely ignoring what having kids means, the medical risks, the pain, the isolation and just the exhaustion.

If a woman is willing to have kids despite all of these aforementioned points, that's great, but we CAN'T say it's best for all women and we CAN'T say it's what women really want.

I just explained to a friend that her birth control mimics a pregnancy which is why it prevents it in the first place. She had NO clue. Do they really think that if information about female bodies was a lot more accessible and common, women would be more willing to fulfill their """biological""" duties???

They wouldn't either, if they could get pregnant.

Reminds me of something James Baldwin said:

"Well, I know this, and anyone who has ever tried to live knows this: what you say about somebody else, anybody else, reveals you. What I think of you as being is dictated by my own necessities, my own psychology, my own fears and desires."

The fact that men aren’t expected to and often don’t contribute to society (ending poverty) gives them the free time to focus on sex and fantasy. They also don’t want to negotiate equality when it’s easier to just command and intimidate to get what they want.
