Let's put pressure on Crowd justice against Stonewall

ACTIVISM Submitted June 28, 2020, 11:29 a.m. by Ragingradfem

Barrister Allison Bailey's fundraiser to file a lawsuit against Stonewall has already been interrupted and limited severely by Crowd justice, as explained in this great post by u/coffeencroissant.

https://www.reddit.com/r/GenderCritical/comments/hhf9ec/i_dont_know_if_you_all_have_been_following_the/

Please join me in reaching out to the Crowd justice platform to put pressure on them to reinstate her fundraiser. They have removed it from their website search, but if you go to Ms. Barrister's twitter (@bluskyeallison) you will find the link.

On the fundraiser page, (on the crowd justice website) there is a button that looks like an envelope to live chat with their support, you can send them messages directly from there.

If you would like to use an anonymous email, Guerrilla Mail is a decent option. (You can simply use any made up email address with @sharklasers.com, pokemail.net, or grr.la as the second half.)

The text I sent is copied below. (I have removed the link that I included to the actual fundraiser since that's against this forum's policy, but for clarity you may wish to add that into the message before you send it to crowdjustice.) Please feel free to use if it makes it easier for you to speak in support.

.......

I am writing to request that you reinstate the fundraiser for barrister Allison Bailey, and complain about your extremely biased handling of this situation. In breach of your own posted terms of service, which say that fundraisers will NOT be stopped when they hit their target, it is a shamefully partisan move against this particular case that you have chosen to stop collecting donations on her behalf.

Many of us have followed closely the situation that led up to Ms. Bailey's suit and feel she speaks for voices like ours that are drowned out, attacked and unheard. This suit has importance. If you truly stand by your words that you do not take sides on legal matters and leave it to the courts to decide, please reinstate her fundraiser to accept further donations. Your treatment of this particular case over the last 24 hours had been extremely biased.

Please stand up for the principles of equality under the law and fair access to the law and let her case proceed unhindered.

Brilliant, thank you!

They did reinstate her funder and she got over the 60k stretch target. Although they edited what she had written in her statement and took all the meat out of what she was saying. Regardless its fully funded, so I guess thats something at least

Her original statement is here https://filia.org.uk/news/2020/6/27/allison-bailey-i-am-suing-stonewall-to-stop-them-policing-free-speech

I can't link as I don't think its allowed under the rules but if you google "Holding statement from CrowdJustice " you can see her page and its fully funded as of early this morning

Just did it! Thank you for organizing this and making it so easy. Can we set a goal? 100 emails sent? Maybe put the activism tag at the top?

Ragingradfem · June 28, 2020, 12:03 p.m.

Sweet, it's been tagged as activism. I like the idea of 100 emails - they need to know we're as noisy as the TRAs and that we don't get easily cowed.

I emailed them twice, both yesterday and today.

Imagine having justice in your name and then acting like that. Geez. Hopefully this will make more people’s eyes open to what kind of bullying we are dealing with.

Ragingradfem · June 28, 2020, 12:20 p.m.

Thank you! I think they need to see that we are every bit as vocal as the TRAs. If we speak together, I think we can open their eyes.

just did it. i have a feeling they're going to ignore us but we have to do something.

Ragingradfem · June 28, 2020, 12:43 p.m. · 1 reply

See, I don't know- they well might ignore us, but if the logic is that they cave to TRAs because they're loud and aggressive, we can steal a page out of that book pretty easily. People (and businesses) cow to TRAs because they're worked about their perception and the backlash - it's about money. If there are enough of us speaking out, it tells them not to assume that the only prayers comes from that side. There will be consequences (public, visible, financial) for alienating us as well.

i genuinely hope so. but everything is about image these days, and currently we are the 'bad guys' that no one wants to be associated with. i hope allison changes that perception of us a little.

Ragingradfem · June 28, 2020, 2:25 p.m.

Every time we speak up respectfully, we damage the assertion that we are the bad guys. I mean, they took down the fundraiser entirely originally because of complaints from TRAs - they only reinstated it yesterday after getting a bunch of complaints from Allison's supporters. That tells me pressure from us does work.
