Anyone else ever experience this?

I work at an airport where I refuel planes, help passengers and pilots carry their luggage to the plane, etc. Long story short, its a physically taxing job. I'm one of the two females that works here. I guess I should mention that I'm short, 5'3" and just 110 pounds, but by no means would I consider myself frail or weak. My manager is a guy in his 50s. He will sometimes mock me for my size, saying that I got lucky that I even got hired because of how weak I was initially. I also get shit from pilots that will take one look at me, and say something along the lines of "are you sure you can carry that? that looks way too heavy for you!" Probably the worst one had to be awhile back. I went over to some pilots to help with their luggage and the captain said, verbatim, "is there a guy that can help me? this luggage is way too heavy for you" How the hell do you even respond to misogynistic shit like that? To make matters worse, the person who hired me is female, and she will also mock me for my size. How do you deal with sexist shit like this, especially when it comes from the same gender? I'm just tired of being treated like this. Women are targeted in every way when the opportunity is there.

I am about the same size. I just keep doing my thing & that's that. After enough interaction, the doubters keep their mouth shut.

Your woman supervisor probably had to learn the male lingo as part of acceptably doing her job. But do hang in there--esp if the $ is good, and gaining in physical strength (I don't like gyms) in this way is a bonus.

If possible, carry something even heavier next time you see them and remind them of their misogyny. But then I’m petty af.

If you were a 5'3", 110lb man they would not say it to you. Men don't mock other men for such things unless they are best buddies. They would never disrespect a strange man like that. Perhaps bring this to their attention because they have probably never seen it in that light. A short, "You wouldn't say that to me if I were a short lightweight man" should do it.

I am retired now but I used to come across that stuff every day at work. The young woman who was our forklift truck driver used to cop it from every new delivery driver that came to us. She never complained about it, but one time I caught a man telling her, "No offence, but can you get a bloke to do this job because this pallet is a bit tricky to get out and I have to pay for any damage to the truck." I came over and yelled at her, "Are you driving the fork with your ovaries again? You know those things can't steer properly! Just drive with your tits like every other stupid female around here!" She and I laughed while he stood there silently fuming. He never said a word the next time he made a delivery to us.

If someone tells me I'm too weak or small at work, I say, "That's not what YOUR MOM said last night." Rill loud.

If guys say, "I don't know how strong you are" I say, "I don't know how strong YOU are." Or if they say they need someone else to help, I say, "Oh, let me get a REAL man to help you."

If they are reasonable-ish, I throw back, "I'm stronger than I look" or "I gotta get my steps in man."

I would just laugh at them like they made a funny joke and then hoist the bag up like it was nothing and walk away. Fuck them.

I'm 5'4 and 115 lbs, I'm an accountant and I get made fun of if I try and carry new reams of paper to the printer because obvs that's to heavy!! Makes my fucking blood boil.
