Kpop girlgroups: Ultimate Femcel Suifuel

Submitted Jan. 12, 2021, 12:35 a.m. by lapisazu1

I don't even know why it had taken me this long to come to this conclusion. There really is nothing that's more textbook suifuel than kpop girlgroups, it's a bunch of fit, usually tall, feminine, and talented women with perfect skin, loved by thousands of people all over the world. They quite literally make money off of being beautiful. Theres even a designated "visual" in these groups and as a kpop stan I'm now realizing that my life has been taken over by groups of singing and dancing stacys. I hate it here.

well the k-pop industry is a lot like the mickey mouse club so it's not that surprising

I used to be into kpop a few years ago, but I fallen out of love with it entirely. I don't really find any of kpop idols to be attractive to be honest. The only way I see them being appealing is, if I was proana. Right now most of them look like generic, pale cheesticks (sorry if I offend anyone with this, i don't mean to)

cringes at the thought of my 11 year old self crushing on dbsk, big bang and snsd

XhiaoFemcel · Jan. 12, 2021, 3:47 a.m.

I'm a kpop stan too and honestly it's so hard even checking out girl group releases for me because I can hardly watch an MV without breaking down, they're like physical perfection and I immediately think of how I'd look like some inhuman abomination standing next to them.

I used to really like snsd back in their heyday but I barely listen to/watch any girl groups these days besides IU. most of them are really young in my eyes (15-20) so I don't really compare myself to them

Tall but not weirdly masculine tall of course 😔

Trash_Opinion_taFormer Femcel · Jan. 12, 2021, 10:09 a.m. · 1 reply

Most of them are 5'4" and under. They're not tall, lol.

Well that’s even worse then :(

Like I said in a different comment, don't be jealous of them. The kpop idol look is heavily manufactured because these entertainment companies are selling a fantasy. But you shouldn't expect to ever look like them because even they don't look like themselves.

gigadoomer · Jan. 12, 2021, 11:38 p.m.

the asian definition of tall is 5’5-5’7

Past_Ad1737Baby Femcel · Jan. 12, 2021, 7:48 a.m.

I know, I’m a KPOP fan and it’s sad to know that I’ll never be loved to the extent they are 🥲

You should google the horrific stringent bullcrap they have to go through to look the way they do. Dangerous plastic surgeries, being told that their weight cannot exceed 50kg no matter how tall they are, rampant eating disorders, being overworked and starved to the point that they faint on stage, etc.

Wendy from Red Velvet has admitted to starving herself for two weeks before comebacks and encouraging her starvation and yoyo dieting by watching her group members eat. There's videos of the girls also slowing down their eating and getting terrified when their manager catches them getting excited over ice cream. Krystal from f(x) has multiple recorded instances of passing out on stage while dancing. Luna from the same group spends all her time glorifying weight loss, plastic surgery, and encouraging women to get the calf muscle removed from their legs to look more "pretty."

Muscle removal and S-line surgery are extremely dangerous procedures that can result in death or other life-destroying complications. They're also way more common than you would think among kpop idols. If you want to see a kpop idol whose life was essentially ruined by plastic surgery, look up Bom from 2NE1.

Don't be jealous of them. The kpop idol look is heavily manufactured and an impossible standard. No human on this planet can look like a kpop idol naturally; the vast majority of them have had plastic surgery or eating disorders.

And one that one kpop star gets shamed because she very slightly doesn't conform to the strict beauty standards, being ugly in Korea must be a whole other type of hell

Trash_Opinion_taFormer Femcel · Jan. 12, 2021, 10:08 a.m. · 1 reply

Yup, but tbh pretty much every idol gets ripped in for being too skinny or too fat. IU has dealt with that type of bs her entire life. It's gotten bad enough that she regularly gets an appetite suppressant injected so she can starve herself more easily. Idols have committed suicide over the seriously fucked up bullying they get.

There's actually a video of Sulli, one of the idols who committed suicide, having a guy completely tear into her for being too fat (bearing in mind that she was 45kg at the time and was the tallest member of her group so she was actually quite skinny, just had a round face due to fat distribution).

45 kg? I know about the 3 digit rule but this is way too much even by Korean standards

Trash_Opinion_taFormer Femcel · Jan. 12, 2021, 10:34 a.m. · 1 reply

45kg is roughly 100lbs so it's basically the 3 digit rule. Some idols have said that the rule has been adjusted slightly so that they're not allowed to have a weight that starts with a 5 i.e. 50kg (110lbs) or higher.

Sulli was 5'7" and less than 110lbs because the standard at the time was 100lbs. The healthy weight for somebody of her height is bare minimum 120lbs. A weight of 100lbs put her firmly in the underweight category at a BMI of 16.

i always thought the rule was in g and not lbs. I'm 45 kg and 5'2 and Asian aunties are always telling me to eat more. I can't even imagine being 5'7 and 45 kg and still being shamed for being ''fat''

Trash_Opinion_taFormer Femcel · Jan. 12, 2021, 10:58 a.m.

100 kg is 220 lbs and 100 g is 3.5 oz so the 3-digit rule wouldn't really work in metric, lol. But yeah, that's how horrible the kpop industry is. It's ruined a lot of women's lives (and men's too; they're not exempt from the insane physical standards). Idols get shamed by their companies for being too fat/skinny, by their "fans," by their haters, by other idols, etc.

I'm 45 kg and 5'2 and Asian aunties are always telling me to eat more.

Isn't this just a typical greeting by Asian aunties? My friend is like 95 lbs and her mom is constantly telling her she's either too fat or too skinny. Eating a sandwich because hungry? "You're too fat! Stop eating so much!" Going on a juice cleanse because insecure? "You're too skinny! You need to eat more!" She would faint if she had to run to class because her caloric intake was obscenely small sometimes (~300 cals in a day).

I suggest everyone watch the Japanese movie Helter Skelter. From the very first scene, you'll get it. Gorgeous.

Lmaoo idky “singing and dancing staceys” made me giggle so hard.

South Korean people have many surgeries. Check our their before and after photos. Still I see a lot of fans in denial that their idols were once not as good looking by saying only "Oh its only make up/getting matured/different angle.." which are bunch of BS.

That country is so obsessed with PS. Even parents gifting their children with PS procedure after graduation

Brutal honest, if SK didnt get PS, they all look like NK people.

To all KPOP fans, I'm not a racist, I'm just stating the truth. Hope you will not be offended.
